Hey guys,

Joy here again. Exams are right around the corner for a lot of us, and with that comes, of course, the exam fever- the worrying, the stressing, and the panicking. But don't worry, I am here to hopefully help you out with that.

I can't begin to explain how important it is for you all ( students AND parents) to remain calm and relaxed. Being panicky and stressed is just going to make you lose out on valuable time. You need to remind yourself that you know everything in your books and only a final revision is waiting to be done. Let me list out a few things that you can change or adapt in order to keep calm and stay focused during the exam season.

1. HEALTH-

One of the most important things that need to be taken care of during exams is your health. If you aren't keeping well, you won't be able to focus and all efforts will go to waste. I know this seems obvious, but it is super-duper important.

  • Do not eat outside food. Instead, request your mum to make something tasty at home.

  • Drink water and stay hydrated.

  • Eat dry fruits and fruits.

  • Walk around your room while studying. (It helps improve circulation)

2. TIMETABLE AND DEADLINES-

While revising the day before the exam/ in the two- three day break in between exams, you won't have much time. In order to not panic in the end and finish the syllabus in time, make a rough timetable in your head and stick to it. I know that a lot of your friends will be like- "I haven't even started yet" or "We will study last minute", but don't trust them. It really doesn't matter what everybody else is doing. If you want to score well, ignore them. Stay on track and stay focused.

3. BREAKS-

I know there's a time crunch and that a lot of syllabi may be left, but it is important to take regular breaks ( after every 90 mins take a 10 min break.). Just like the car engine gets overheated if used continuously for a long time, so does your brain. So take breathers and allow what you have studied soak in. Go down for 15 min, talk to your friends( try not to discuss studies), take a walk, or even play a sport for a while. But do not take very frequent or very long breaks, it will just break your flow and cause you to waste even more time getting back on track. CAUTION: Try not to use your phone during this time because a.) it will strain your eyes and b.) your break will definitely stretch on for more than 10 min. 4. ENVIRONMENT-

Make sure that the environment around you is not distracting or chaotic. Keep your phone away, switch on the bright lights, and make sure that there is no loud music playing in the proximity. Ask your siblings to leave your room and give you space( politely, please 😂).

5. SLEEP-

I have a lot of friends who study through the night before the exam. This is not healthy and it is definitely not required. All that studying will be useless if you are groggy during the exam. So be mindful of catching some shut-eye before your exam. Being well-rested will help you concentrate and remember better. It is also better to not break your sleeping pattern ie. do not sleep from 10 pm-1 am and then study from 1 am-3 am and then sleep again. This will just cause you to waste time and get a headache. 6. TRANSFERENCE-( FOR PARENTS)

Transference is the phenomenon where you tend to pass on your feeling ono another person. In this case, it is possible that you are probably passing on your worry or tension to your child. You stay calm and it will help them remain calm. Be supportive but not overbearing. If your child is having a panic attack or is feeling very stressed, please do not say- "I told you so" or "you should have studied earlier". Reassure them. Instead of being condescending at that moment, guide them on how to go about studying in the remaining time. Trust me, that is the moment when they need you the most. Hope this article helped you guys out! Stay tuned for more content. Au revoir, Joy. PS: Just a few more days, then you will be free!
