Easy ways to kill a girl.

Hey guys...Joy here!

Seeing how this is my first post in a while, I realize that this may not be the most vibrant post for the occasion. But I decided to post this poem which I had written a while back when the #MeToo movement was in full swing. I am a bit too late for the movement but that's kind of the reason I am posting it. I hate the fact that feminism is a trend and that violence against women and gender inequality are topics that people forget as soon as a new news cycle hits. Unfortunately for us women, it isn't as easy to forget. These issues have been so normalized that the 'precautions' and 'rules' have become second nature for us. But this is scary and unacceptable. Call me naive, call me idealistic, but it is a reality that I refuse to accept. So the poem may be a bit dark, but that's just because some things are better left un-romanticized. Its writing style has been inspired by the poem- "Five Ways To Kill a Man" by Edwin Brock.

[ It's an amazing poem, check it out if you want- http://www.davidpbrown.co.uk/poetry/edwin-brock.html ]

There are many easy ways to kill a girl:

You can kill her while she lays

Helpless and innocent, in her mother's womb. To do this

Properly you require two ruthless parents,

A greedy doctor, a shady hospital, a society to applaud

And a world that is undeserving of her.

Or you can let her 'live' in the shadow of her brother,

Strangling and suppressing her dreams,

Give a needle and thread in her hands meant for a pen,

Steal her childhood and tell her-

That she belongs at the foot of men.

If she survives that, then of course,

You can make her an object of lust,

A victim to a man's uncontrolled desire,

Rob her of her chastity and set her soul on fire.

But be warned, if all the above-given ways fail,

If like silver the flames don't melt but pushes her,

To her limits and she emerges stronger than ever,

She shall not forget your favor.

You shall go from the slayer to the slain

For there are no heights she can not attain, unbound by any chains.

Until next time,

Au Revoir!
