Little blessings

Okay so yes, I am writing about the quarantine but I just wanna take time to write about some things that excited me, and maybe they might bring a smile to your face to and make you observe your surroundings and catch some of these moments yourself!

Nature! The environment is getting a freaking fighting chance! Yes, once we all get out again nature will go back to its dire state and there is nothing logical we can do about it but I want everyone to have a chance to admire it, observe it, watch it become slightly better.

At 6 a.m one of my friends sent me the sounds from outside his balcony- I heard freaking birds chirping guys...that hasn't happened unless I was in the bird exhibit of a zoo.

Another friend posted a picture of one of our busiest highways- completely empty except for one or two cars. The sheer tranquility, the lack of movement- it reminded me why I like to wake up at 4 a.m ....or why you guys like to stay awake later. The stability and the calm are something so beautiful in a metropolitan city.

A lot of people are using this time to get better at singing, to bake new stuff, to do beautiful dances and challenges and whatnot. Everyone is getting time to do something they wanted to and finally, finally have the time to do! Every time another person sends me a picture of the newest thing the successfully baked or the newest painting they just finished my heart basically swells with pride because damn that is some beautiful stuff right there!

One of the most fun things is seeing people reconnect with old friends, talking to new and old friends alike on zoom or playing games with them, having a good time in general. Watching friendships bloom in the wake of a disaster is weird because of how long will they last? But at the same time remembering those old jokes, the reminiscing, catching up -it has to count for something.

Birthdays. Lockdown birthdays are very sad, yes but people are finding out this birthday to be one of their better ones- simply because others are taking the craziest amount of effort to ensure that this one person isn't lonely and isn't unhappy. Video calls, homemade cakes, tasty food which goes on to show that gifts are just secondary in making a birthday special.

It feels nice that I have the time to watch the street dogs from above even though I can't meet them- it's fun. Their fights are the new drama in my life!

It's fun to see more of my family than I have in years and to have a good moment or two with them. Like old friends, more relatives are talking to us, asking about our health, and so on.

I know it's a tough situation...trust me I do because I'm right there in it with you all...but there are upsides and we just need to keep looking at and for them until we can get back to our routine lives!

But until then, I think it feels nice to be excited about such little things...instead of worrying about the next internship or the next new course to do or, exams! Take a breather, look around you and maybe you will look at the other side of the coin?

Love,

Jordyn.
